Kay Wing PT, DPT, NCS, GCS
Founder and President
Kay Wing, founder and president, received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University and her certificate in physical therapy from Northwestern University. During her 35 years of practice she has managed rehabilitation departments throughout Phoenix.
Kay is the immediate past president of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association and sits on the board of directors. She is certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Neurological Certified Specialist, as well as a Geriatric Certified Specialist. She is an adjunct faculty for Northern Arizona University and for A.T. Still University. In 2008, Kay received the Clinical Excellence in Neurology Award from the Neurology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. In 2003, the Arizona Physical Therapy Association awarded her the prestigious "Physical Therapist of the Year" award. Her passion is to work with survivors of stroke and other neurological injuries.
She enjoys running, sailing, hiking, biking and reading.
Ericka Nicholes, Billing Representative
Ericka Nicholes is the Billing Specialist. She is responsible for Prior Authorizations, A/R and most Insurance matters. Prior to Swan, Ericka has worked in Private Practices, Insurance companies and in the Hospital Environment. This California native is currently studying for her Doctrine in Psychology with an emphasis in Social Work.
Liz Meisenheimer, PT
Physical Therapist
Liz is a Phoenix native and received her physical therapy degree from California State University, Fresno in 1979. She joined the SWAN team in 2006 and now serves as Clinic Director and Center Coordinator of Clinical Education. She has had a variety of experiences in neurological and orthopedic inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to spending time with her family she enjoys yoga, gardening and scrapbooking.
Mark Stephens, PT
Physical Therapist
Mark Stephens, PT is from Utah and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Utah. During his education he was a research coordinator for a study involving intensive rehab approaches for individuals with chronic stroke. For recreation he enjoys running and has ran in 12 marathons including the Boston and New York Marathons. In addition, he enjoys watching and playing any sport and backpacking.
Susan McGary-Fynmore, Speech Therapist
Susan McGary-Fynmore received her Bachelor's degree in Speech and Hearing Science and her Master's degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana Campus. She completed her clinical fellowships year at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York before moving to Arizona. She has served the neurologically impaired population in management and clinical positions at Barrow Neurological Institute, St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center for almost 20 years. She has participated in special projects for the American Speech and Hearing Association. Susan is BIG certified and is also a certified provider for Vital Stim. Susan fill hers time outside of work with her husband and three children, reading and hiking.
Gillian Porter, OTR/L Occupational Therapist
Since graduating with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree in December 2007, Gillian has spent most of her professional experience in outpatient settings working with various neurological impairments. She has developed a passion for working with people with Parkinson's Disease and enjoys applying the movement and exercise concepts learned through LSVT BIG certification and Parkinson's Wellness Recovery (PWR!) training. Gillian volunteers every year (since 2006) for the Brain Injury Association of Arizona Camp Can Do and more recently their annual Bowl for Brain Injury event. Outside of work, Gillian enjoys hiking/running/walking with her favorite four-legged companion.
Nicole Harley, OTR/L Occupational Therapist
Nicole Harley OTR/L Occupational Therapist recently graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, obtaining her Master of Occupational Therapy and B.A in English Literature. She is also a member of AOTA. Nicole has a strong passion for neurological rehabilitation. She has experience working in skilled nursing and pediatric school settings. Although Nicole is new to the area, she is learning to love the hot climate of Phoenix. She enjoys traveling, yoga, fitness classes, spontaneous road trips and shopping at Trader Joes.
Melissa Procopio, Speech Therapist
Melissa Procopio Speech Therapist is a virtual native of Arizona. She received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University, and holds a Bachelors degree in Speech Science, along with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Business and Psychology. Through her experience in rehabilitation hospitals, private practices, and outpatient clinics, Melissa has developed a strong passion for working with patients with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and neurological disorders. Outside of work, Melissa loves practicing yoga, swing dancing, and speaking Italian.
Sean Vanhille, Physical Therapy Technician
Sean recently graduated from Southern Utah University where he received a dual degree in Biology and Psychology. In our HOPE program, he assists patients in their therapist-designed exercise programs. When not at work, Sean loves hiking, reading, and talking with his family.
Lacey Doerfler, Intern
Lacey is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Arizona State University. She assists the therapists at Swan Rehab and attends to various clerical tasks. Lacey is also a licensed massage therapist specializing in therapeutic massage. When she's not working she enjoys hiking, yoga, and raqs sharki.
Mary Rossi, Office Manager
Mary is an East coast native, having moved west from Cape Cod, MA. She is an LPN, a Medical Billing Specialist and a Certified Coder and has worked in the medical field for many years. Mary handles the insurance billing and coding and is the Office Manager.
Annette Ruby Cordero, PTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Annette received her Associates in Applied Science in 2010 from Gateway Community College Physical Therapist Assisting Program. Annette is from El Paso, TX, where she attended the University of Texas at El Paso. She enjoys hiking and cooking.
Lara Taggart, OTR/L Occupational Therapist
Lara is an Occupational Therapist who received her B.S. from ASU in Applied Psychology and her Masters in Occupational Therapy at A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. She has worked in a pediatric setting for the past three years, including home health, school and private practice. She is a certified provider of Therapeutic Listening. She has also attended courses in Neurodevelopmental Treatment Approach in treating infants, Kinesiotaping and Sensory Processing Disorder.
Lara is an adjunct faculty at Pima Medical Institute in Mesa for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. She is currently the Vice President of the Arizona Occupational Therapy State Association (ArizOTA) and is the Co-Chair of ArizOTA Pediatrics Special Interest Group. She keeps busy with her three children and three step children in Chandler, Arizona. She enjoys reading, traveling and being involved in the OT community.
Emily Roberts
Patient Care Coordinator
Emily is an Arizona native and received her degree in journalism from Walter Cronkite's School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in 2008. She joined the SWAN team in October 2009. When she's not working, Emily enjoys traveling, going to concerts and spending time with her dog, Patch.
Raimee Cuneo
Front Office Schedule
Raimee just recently joined the SWAN team in April 2010. She brings with her experience working front office and scheduling at another physical therapy facility. She has lived in Arizona the majority of her life, but was fortunate enough to live in many places, like Germany, while her dad was employed in the Army when she was younger. In her free time, Raimee enjoys playing with her daughter and taking dance classes at the recreational center close to her home.
