Scientific studies show that physical fitness, especially aerobic exercise, and strength training is beneficial to stroke survivors, those with other brain injuries, and the general geriatric population. At each session an exercise specialist personally works with the client to obtain maximum results, to monitor progress, and assure safety.
Parkinson's Disease
SWAN Rehab has long been a leader in the field of Stroke Rehabilitation. SWAN also actively treats many other neurological conditions including Parkinson's disease.
Research studies have shown many benefits of exercise for people with Parkinson's including, strengthening muscles and bones, decreasing joint stiffness and rigidity, increasing aerobic capacity, improving fitness and health, and improving balance, posture and walking.
Regardless of your preferred treatment options, in the case of Parkinson's disease, early and on going exercise is not only important but essential and should be a fundamental part of the overall treatment program. Exercise is not a cure, but it will keep your body ahead of the changes occurring in your brain from the neurological damage from Parkinson's disease.
ARM Program
SWAN Rehab now provides the ARM (Active Repetitive Movement) Program. This program is designed to provide customized arm exercise programs with specialized equipment and staff support.
