Dystonia definition, classification and management
Dr. Moguel-Cobos will be discussing the definition, classification and management of dystonia. Dystonia, according to the Dystonia Foundation, is defined as " ...a disorder that affects the nervous system. Improper signaling from the brain causes muscles to tighten and twist involuntarily."
Dr. Moguel-Cobos is a faculty physician in the Movement Disorders Program at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical center. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of involuntary movements, including tremors of various types, Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonian syndromes, Huntington's disease, dystonia, myoclonus, tics, ToureUe's syndrome, and gait abnormalities, including ataxia. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
