Mark your calendar - Care Giver Support Group Now Being Formed for Fall 2008

Last fall, Dr. Linnea Lei, a Flagstaff psychologist, conducted a pilot care giver support group at SWAN Rehab. Group members met to talk about coping strategies, and ways to deal with the emotions that are created when a family member has suffered a brain injury. "Many people feel isolated and overwhelmed," said Dr. Lei "and that's completely normal. I've noticed in my practice that when people come together and talk in a safe and nurturing environment they feel better about themselves and the situation they are in. The result is a Care Giver who is better able to help others while not neglecting their own needs."

Based on the success of the pilot group, a new group is now being formed. The group will meet a total of five times: September 12, 19, and 26 and October 3 and 10. The cost for participating in this group is $175.00. SWAN Rehabilitation will provide care for injured family members while the group is in session.
